"Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing — absolute nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing... about in boats — or with boats. In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it. Whether you get away, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much better not."-Ratty

The Forth Annual Finley Point Messabout is scheduled for May Date TBA based at Finley Point State Park on the south end of Flathead Lake. The event is designed around sail and oar boats under 25' LOA. A new twist will be sailing to and or from the event site at Finley Point. Keeping Ratty's wisdom in mind no scheduled events are set but a community potluck is planned for Saturday night. With a wide range of sailing and rowing destinations in the midst of beautiful Montana scenery this is a great kickoff to the 2015 boating season. This page will direct you to further information on both the park and the lake. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing you!

Important Things to Remember

-There are a limited number of campsites at Finley Point and the site is set up mainly for RV camping. Tent and boat camping are an option. It is wise to reserve your spot ahead of time. Check the links section below for more information and camping reservations.

-Flathead Lake is known for it's rapid weather changes and severe weather. The water below the surface can be cold, especially this early in the season. Know your boat, know yourself before attending and prepare accordingly. Follow USCG and "common sense" guidelines when preparing yourself and your vessel. Prepare for self sustainability and reliance

-Finley Point is located on the Tribal section of the Lake and a CSKT Liscense is required for fishing.
